Somalia's first national renewable energy conference
SREC26 brings together the institutions, companies and partners that will shape how renewable energy develops in Somalia — over two days, in one room, in Garowe.
Why now
Energy is one of the clearest constraints on Somalia's economic transformation. Access to affordable, reliable and clean power underpins industry, health, education and climate resilience — and the country has the natural resources to supply it. Solar irradiation is abundant, wind potential is among the strongest on the continent, and decentralised systems can reach communities that conventional grid infrastructure does not.
What has been missing is coordination. Infrastructure, affordability, financing, policy alignment, technology deployment and market development each sit with different actors, and progress in one rarely reinforces progress in another.
SREC26 exists to close that gap: a national platform for dialogue, collaboration, investment, innovation and knowledge exchange across Somalia's energy sector.

What SREC26 is
SREC26 is designed as four things at once — a conference, an exhibition, an investment forum and a partnership platform. It convenes policymakers, regulators, development partners, investors, financial institutions, renewable energy companies, technology providers, researchers, academia, entrepreneurs, youth leaders, civil society organisations and industry practitioners.
What it aims to achieve
- Promote renewable energy as a driver of economic growth, climate resilience and sustainable development
- Facilitate policy dialogue and strengthen Somalia's renewable energy ecosystem
- Showcase technologies, business models and solutions suited to Somali conditions
- Connect investors, financiers, developers, project sponsors and technology providers
- Promote investment across renewable energy, clean cooking, productive use and climate-smart infrastructure
- Strengthen partnerships between government, private sector, development organisations, research institutions and civil society
- Support local entrepreneurship, youth participation, women's inclusion and capacity building
- Position Somalia as an emerging destination for renewable energy investment and innovation
Expected outcomes
Success will be measured not by attendance alone but by the quality of partnerships formed, investment catalysed, knowledge exchanged and action taken afterwards. The first edition aims to deliver stronger collaboration across the value chain, new public–private partnerships, improved access to finance, greater visibility for innovative solutions, and actionable recommendations for the growth of the market.

Somali Green Energy Association
SOGEA is Somalia's national renewable energy trade association. It represents member companies working across solar installation, clean cooking and energy services, convenes industry with government, and represents the Somali sector regionally and internationally.
